I really liked the video we watched in class. Although I chose to laugh at most things then take them seriously it was good to think about.
Friedman is correct in stating some of the population is simply too sick to take part of the economy. Especially in Africa, where the main group targeted by the AIDS virus is the middle-aged group. This is leaving the elderly, and the young to fend for themselves, which is something very difficult to weak. How can you better your economy when the ones not affected by the virus are either too young or are past their working years? I guess it's a good thing Bill Gates is trying to do something in Africa.
The video was very interesting to watch. I never realized how much junk we really do just through away. I also never thought about the resources running out. It definitely opened up my eyes to a lot of things.
The video was really good, the only thing that shocked me was about was when she spoke about Breastfeeding mothers, I am a breastfeeding mother, and i feel that my little one is at good health and what im breathing in on a daily basis is good for myself and My daughter.
I liked the things that friedman was saying in with the "Too" stuff. Also the Stuff video we watch was insightful but also a little ??? the lady was obviously very liberal some of what she said i thought was crap but she had some good points
I think that the video was very one sided. There are valid concerns that were addressed in the video but there are plenty of companies doing their best to lower emissions, and the amount of waste produced. I know that it is a problem, but can it be fixed. The economy is a race and no one is going to slow down to help out the environment.
I felt enlightened when the lady was talking about the idea of trying to run a linear economy on a finite planet, and how it obviously won't work.
I was completely shot down after telling my mother that the world will run out of drinkable water. I had her watch the video, and i think maybe her opinion has changed slightly. :)
Good video to show what is going on around the world and how much the U.S. contributes to this problem. We need to do something about it, if not, we are doomed. We are destroying our very own planet, and like the lady says, we only have one.
I think the lady in the video was annoying and the pictures were rather entertaining =] besides that though, I do think that we need to so something about all of our useless stuff and that cooperations should not have such a great effect on the government...but I think that there is also more to the story that she wasn't saying.
I saw this in my english 095 class. We had to look deeper into the text and pick it apart. It amazing how much more information you catch when you watch it for a second time.
It was really hard for me to take this lady seriously. Some of the things she was saying were not true. Especially about the governments responsibility in those matters. On the subject of the AIDS in Africa, the only reason they have such a huge problem is that there was a inconclusive study done on the effects of the spray used to kill the mosquitoes and so they banned it and then all of a sudden, AIDS are everywhere.
agreed! Too many toyotas! Im an american girl and toyota just does not cut it for me at all!
Friedman has great warnings for the flat world!
This video was very interesting. It tied up everything we learned this quarter into a twenty minute video. Crazy.
The video we watched in class was very informative but the lady seemed really one sided. I do have to t say though we definitly have a problem that needs some fixing. I can't believe how much we throw away!
This video was really interesting. It is good to see some really different perspectives every once in a while.
I think it is sad that illness prevents people from achieving higher dreams. Sadly the fear of aids even in the states can have a disasterious effect. I read a story in my BA class, where a doctor wouldnt treat a womans cavity in his dentist office cause she had aids. He wanted to preform it at the hospital, and end of the story is she sued him. I guess even the stigma of aids in the States is bad.
The video was actually pretty cool. I had no idea that this was happening but im glad there is a way to help change it.
