I find this tactic pretty humorous. I feel that it would not adequately encourage the students in the right way. Instead of this, I do like the idea that we briefly talked about in lecture; giving students money for their good grades. In my opinion treating school like a job would give students a short term incentive, rather than having to try to get good grades for longer term incentives like getting scholarships or into colleges.
WOW! Really? This is ridiculous! There's a difference between willingly updating your status on Facebook to, "shopping at- Macy's." than forcefully having someone know where you are when they want to know. Like Tim says, its seems like a good idea until its happens to you.
Wow! and I think my parents are overprotective! these kids need to punch in their location 5 times a day so people know where they are! I agree with Wade though, it does seem to motivate students to attend school.

Slightly ridiculous. Seems better to motivate the kids to attend school and spark their interest instead of scare them into having no choice.

kinda scary how invasive this is. i think there are probably better alternatives rather than tracking students.
I think this is one of those ideas that sounds good until it happens to you. A little bit too Big Brother in my opinion.
