The red states are McCain/ Republican states.
The blue are Obama/Democratic states.
This is each income group voted in the last election and who the state winner would be if they counted only those above 150k and so on down to "low income" results.
Class lines that had been blurred around politics are not so blurred, it appears. Actual number of purple states would be a different map.

This is understandable because most republicans are all about big corporations and making them richer. That is my opinion of course and most democrats are about the people. So it shows in these diagrams how it worked out from the upper to lower incomes.
I am all for generalizations, but I think that crosses the line into stereotype Eric. You might as well say all New Jerseyans smell, or that all San Franciscans are gay. I think that the class lines are continuing to blur political norms. Many of the college generation say that Republicans are greedy, gun-toting, bible-thumping, homophobic, neo-cons, but I think that is because the average college student doesn’t actually know a Republican well. In contrast, many of the middle-aged middle-class in Yakima assumes that Democrats are bleeding-heart, condom-toting, bible-burning, Marxist, pinkos, but again that is because they don’t know any Democrats well. Republicans and Democrats are more alike than different most of the time, and would find this to be true if they took some time to look beyond their prejudice.

Publius, I partially agree. In fact I just read an article that stated that both democrats and republicans are for Big government. They are just for Big government in different areas. I understand this goes against what MOST Republicans state. But I as an independent don't really see a difference. Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura made a good point he said: The only difference between a Republican and a Democrat is a Republican charges on credit and a Democrat uses cash. However each to their own:)
Some of those generalizations are correct for the most part. Red-men do seem to support, but that is big and small alike. But as for Dems being all for people... Pres. Obama is trying to cap an amount on donations that receive tax writeoffs. This seems it would severely decrease the amount of charitable donations being given by those greedy, rich Republicans.
I hope that Obama makes all the changes he said he would and gets us out of this bad economic time.
I though that it was really interesting to see which class voted for who. I guess you could say that Obama really got the attention and support of lower class people.
Well he most definitly did get lower income level support...look at his stimulus plan. $13 billion for lowincome schoolchildren, healthcare benefits for the unemployed, tax cuts.
If spending money that we did not have in the first place (sub-prime borrowers) got us into this mess in the first place, why do we think spending money we don't have now will get us out?
I have not yet figured that out. George Bush got us into this big economical disruption by borrowing money that we do not have. Why are we doing that again? Our kids are going to hate us when they are paying for the stupid mistakes we have made! GO OBAMA!!!

President Obama is the one spending ridiculous amounts of money. Senator taht have been noted for liberal leanings have said it is "generational theft." Meaning that our grandkids are going to be paying off his "stimulus" bill. Bush warned congress about the housing crisis in 2004 and 2006, but the flaming liberal congress sid that everyone deserves to own a house, even if they can't afford it.
