I THINK THE WAGES ARE STILL TO LOW FOR ALL THE BILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES PEOPLE HAVE AND HAVE TO SUPPORT THEIR FAMILIES. WITH ALL THE GAS PRICES GOING UP AND THE FOOD AND BEVERAGES, TOO, THERE IS NO WAY PEOPLE CAN AFFORD TO LIVE OFF OF $8.07 an hour TO LIVE OFF AND STILL SUPPORT A FAMILY. I AM NOT SURE OF THE AVERAGE KIDS A FAMILY HAS BUT AROUNND TWO OR THREE KIDS. WHEN YOU BUY SOMETHING TO ONE KID YOU HAVE TO BUY SOMETHING TO THE OTHER TWO KIDS OR ELSE THEY WILL FEEL JEALOUS THAT YOU ONLY LIKE THAT ONE KID YOU BOUGHT THE OBJECT FOR.SO I THINK THE MINIMUM WAGE SHOULD BE A LITTLE HIGHER LIKE $10 AN HOUR AND NOT RAISE THE STUFF SO MUCH I DONT THINK THE OWNERS OR BUSINESS WILL LOOSE THAT MUCH BECAUSE THEY MAKE TOO MUCH MONEY.

after reading both of these articles i still feel, the wages should be higher. Just do to the fact how are you suppose to raise your family, pay your bills or pay for food on the wages. I feel even if the wages weren't at $8.07 an hour gas prices would still be up and food prices as well because people are paying for them so why would the owners change anything about the prices so whats the big deal with raising the wages.

I'm don't want to sound too liberal. But, at least in Washington, $10 an hour is what sound reasonable to me, again for Washington. On the one hand, minimum wage is there for a reason, to keep people from starving in the Land of The Free. On the other hand, you certainly don't want to encourage people to settle for minimum wage. George F. Will says, "Two scholars report that in states that allow people to leave school before 18, a 10 percent increase in the state minimum wage caused teenage school enrollment to drop 2 percent." 2 percent, huh? Is that all? I think the minimum wage should be somewhat livable and that states should be allowed to set their own respective minimum wage. George F. Will also writes, "Still, because there are large differences among states' costs of living and the nature of their economies, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) sensibly suggests that each state be allowed to set a lower minimum." I agree with Sen. Jim DeMint at least in as far as, states should set their own minimum wage and if you could actually get a descent living space for only $6 then certain $10 an hour would be unreasonable for a minimum wage. Rachel La Corte writes, "[...] Washington state's minimum wage, already the highest in the country since 2001, rises to $8.07." Highest in the nation it may be, but I still think it should be $10 because, to me, a trailer park isn't an ideal living space and Hotels are for tourists. Plus, even if you could possible get by on $8.07 an hour, with inflation your going to need to be earning $10 an hour eventually anyway. Now, when you go beyond $10 an hour, unless inflation is the sole cause, I'd be just a litter weary because now your really burdening the taxpayers (unless they themselves are earning more).

After reading these articles I have come to a conclusion that no matter how much minimum wage increases depends on how much prices will be raised by local business to keep from closing their doors. An increase in minimum wage causes most familys to decrease thier budget and consider a second job. I was amazed when I read the first article about the price of a hamburger, fries and a drink eight years ago and the price of the same meal now. It increased by double. From experience, I've seen that the increase in minimum wage is causing many employers to cut workers hours due to no business. What will happen in another eight years, will prices continue to double? If this continues many people will become homeless and struggling to survive.
