Here's a great article on High Fences and Big Gates from TF.

I think that making immigration seem impossible makes immigrants want it that much more so they will do anything to get over here. If we at least give them more suitable opportunities, we won't have as many illegal immigrants.

This was an interesting article. I agree with him completely, and I think he really helped me on my paper on immigration.

I agree with friedmans article and by reading it, it really helped me be more supportive in my paper because it gave me ideas on my immigration paper.

att. eesirock,
immigrants are not intruiged by the challenges that are created towards them by stiffer penalties and higher hoops to jump. what drives is the hope and ambition to live and have a better life for families and self.

I do have to agree with Freidman when he says bigger doors but higher fences. by giveing more people the oppourtinity to overcome and live peacefully and lawfully what harm can there be. I also know that living of the sate is a counter argument that is going to arise. being so i will address that now. it is true that many people in the Yakima valley do live in part off of our tax dollars. but at the same time if we dont want them doing so should'nt we allow them to be productive members of society? by opening schools and financial aid allong with scholarships and other resources to illegals we would be doing something better for the state or country. there are many people who would like to pursue eduaction but cant use Fin. Aid. which is tax money. but yet their able to use DSHS which is still tax money. I perfer to let them go to school and who knows, give them the oppourtunity to do something great, as opposed to tie thme down and keep a possible great breakthrough in low wage jobs.

I have no problem of people wanting to come to America for a better life. What most Americans dont like is the illegal part. The law is the law, PERIOD!!!!!
If you break the law you are a criminal. Letting people break the law is wrong. I am believe respect of our nations laws are being discraced when illegals just do as they please, and expect the same benefits as legal citizens. It not fair to place a burden on an already stressed system.
