hey Mr P not a bad Idea I like your boldness on the proposal for your new grading scale. I think the class will go for it =p

Are you kidding me? Thats ridiculous! If this grading scale was actually to exist, then that would allow most of the world to pass there classes, easily and enter the real world, when in fact they aren't really ready. This could actually cause the nation to crash ad burn. If you were to allow these students to pass classes that they shouldn't actually be passing, then they have the ability to become teachers and doctors. Do you honestly want someone who recieved a C (an A in the new grading scale) out of human anatomy, to conduct surgery on you?!

Thats kind of an intense grading scale... Makes it easy for anyone to pass no matter how bad they do. So the essays are going to be graded like that right??? im just kidding.

I agree with Melody. I know it would be great to get an A but if you can get an A at a 80-90% or a 70-80% then have you really learned anything? If you put more effort into your learning then you will achieve more.

Wow I bet a lot of people would love this grading system. It would be to easy then you would have a lot of people with worthless degrees.

Melody has a legitimate claim. I'm going for my nursing degree and i dont think i would be prepared to assist an opperation or administer drugs that could be lethal if not closely monitored and carefully examined the patient if i were able to pass anatamony with a 50% (you only need a C in all requirements for your degree) i honestly think a 2.0 gpa is even too low, but imagine if that 2.0 was equivalent to a 1.0! THAT'S SCARY!

When I attended high school I wanted to earn straight A's so bad. I worked hard but B's were my best. If this "new" grading scale was used there would be no joy in earning your grade. I appreciate teachers who push me to a new level. If they graded on this "new" scale there would be no reason to learn. If I receive an A, I want to know it is because I earned it, not just received it.

Melody Just so you know the person who graduates med school at the bottom of his/her class is called DOCTOR! so people who received a passing grade or one allowing them to go onto the next class may be a surgical doctor that you know, and sometimes those people can do better at the practical part :)

john has not been posting latley.. he has got ot many points.. how sad for him..

This grading scale is obviously ridiculous, however C's get degrees. So maybe there is a surgeon out there who did get straight C's...

It is very scary to even think about the outcome of this grading scale. Can you imagine people how many people would die. I imagine surgeons reading out of one of those "How to perform surgery for Dummies" books during the surgery!!!

Dianna said...

Haha I practically would not even need to come to clas to pass or do any work!!! Do you understand how many degrees you could accumulate over your life time? I could be a brain surgeon and a rocket scientist in like five years!!! My parents would be so proud of me than.

If it went to a vote, I’d wager that students would like such a grading scale. However, I think in very short order they would want it reversed. “Congratulations on your A!! You have a pulse!” At some point students would want it to mean something.

Maybe students would actually learn more. They would be laid back and relaxed but they would able to have fun and enjoy themselves and retain information easier if they can relate it to their life or classroom. Teachers would be able to teach subjects their way and we could all win! Probably not though...

Can you imagine the kind of people who would be flunking out of college with this grading scale? They'd have to be some kind of stupid. Perhaps we could use them as an alternate energy source..

This grading scale is awesome. Lol i would be passing my classes no sweet. To bad no teacher uses this grading scale. If they did however we would become even lazier then we already are. This could cause many problems.

kayla said...

this scale is ridiculous. what would be the point of school anymore? I can guarantee that 98% of students would either stop showing up to class or not really pay attention because they know they can be lazy and still earn a good grade.

hey that sounds great but just not realistic..to bad. sure would help out with all those who really arent the best at writing...been there...

It would be nice to have that as our grading scale, but you guys are right, it would be setting the bar way to low. I mean as American's we already have it better off then everywhere else. We don't want to lose our edge.

I want to show this to some of my teachers.ha, its a funny idea but it would never actually work, too bad.

dave.. if u have ever watched the tv show scrubs on tv.. turk the surgeon got strait c's.. dont ask how i know :) love you..

I agree with kayla. I know from experience that it's not fair to work harder than some people and have them get the same credit you do. I think grades should be based mostly on work ethic. You work for the grade you get.

Alycia said...

I think if schools' grading scales were solely based on "work ethic" then we would have a very scary future ahead of us. Unfortunately not everyone who is intelligent works hard, and not every one who works hard can gain the intelligence they need. Its sad but true- sometimes it isnt how hard you work, its the end outcome of what you know and have learned that will get you places.
