this Stimulus plan has parts that can help people in Angela's original situation, but this also has things that have benefits for people not working, making some of them not want to work.

I am glad to see that money is going to be spent on things that will help the out low income families but I agree with Kristine that some people are going to take advantage of this and live off the government. Lazy worthless people.

I think that is a huge bug in the system that the Feds have to fix because just living off the government is not right and wrong. For example, somebody mentioned in class today that a second grade teacher was going to quit her job because she can be with her family and live off of the government! Is that what this nation has come to. Are we really doing the right thing by providing that many handouts that professionals like teachers are going to start quitting their job because they can be with their family more and still be taken cared of.

Unbelievable.

You know what if that 2nd grade teacher wants to quit her job and be a housewife, then fine, I would not want her to be my child's teacher. Not only does life outside of school need to be well rounded but also inside the classroom. Plus, someone that really wants to get a job and cant because, (I hope Mr. Peters never quits), Mr. Peters will have to work longer due to the fact of our retirement funds disappearing, will be able to achieve a career in life. That person could be an Angela...I would want her as a teacher more than a beggar taking "free" handouts. No?

That is so crazy all the stuff that they are changing. I think that right now everything that they are doing is based on trial and error. They don't really know if it's going to work or not but they are trying that's all that really matters.

This NY Times link is amazing! (Don’t let the forthcoming sarcastic remark fool you, I really do find this pretty amazing.) I could spend all day looking at the nonexistent money being spent. America is like one of those crazy middle-class tourists that visit the Ferrari factory in Maranello, and end up buying one. They can’t actually afford it, but it just looks too nice to pass up.

Kinda like a brand new house or a shiny red car because of the American dream and what our "standard" of living is progressing to. An unrealistic idea of how to live just to look good on the outside and wonder how your going to provide food on the inside.

i think the stimulus plan does have some good points but it seems to be lacking in other parts however. you can give people all the money in the world but its what they decide to do with the money that counts. i can see all the help being purposed becoming abused and there will be many more people who do take advantage of the system. there needs to be better control.

I too do not like the idea of handing out money to people who have done absolutely nothing to earn it. I just can't figure out how as a country would could still help out the poor without completely holding their hands.

Handing out money to people who have done absolutely nothing to earn it does seem stupid. But then you look at people like Angela Whitiker who made something of themselves with help from the government. It’s too bad that too many people take advantage of "free money"

i think the stimules plan should also help minorities more. not just the rich people. poor people need help
