Vertical Farms: I think a vertical farm is really weird. It may be benedictional to the economy. Would a vertical farm actually produce good healthy food to eat? Also having the crops inside don’t they need fresh air and sun light to grow? The other crazy thing is having homes in between the corps throughout he building. This is a crazy idea. It would be cool to see one in real life!

I just cannot get around the fact that we wouldn't even need to be exploring totally insane options like this if we hadn't screwed up our Earth so much by overpopulating and overstretching the land. We destroy the land we were using to feed us, and instead of giving us pause from our ways of more more more, it's made us just go screw you, Earth, we'll find a different way to grow food. It's completely ridiculous.

Also, Jaime, I think you're right. Seems to me that food needs fresh air and sunlight.

WOW I am so suprised that more people werent interviewed for this verticle farm to be in favor of it. The only reason that the lady farmer was against it, was because she is a farmer, where would her job go? To college students learning about these farms and building them, while feeding an entire city all by themselves? NO they will need some help.

However, if the crops are going to be state of the art and dont require any soil, just like the miracle garden or whatever it is you can buy on TV, they would probably be on a watering system and would not require any special attention really besides studying them to grow faster and more. Just as we do with animals. This is a great example of the world flattening and using space where it can.

Dont you think that it would then become some sort of government project because then it would be needed to be safe guarded from terriots destroying our food supply, kinda reminds of that movie, "Waterworld", where the only living plant on any boat was being hidden from others. Imagine if all our crops were grown verticle, that would save tons of money on fuel. You could have a farmers market outside the building or like a farmer I know in Yakima has a green house in Seattle and lets people grow whatever they would like in his green house. They are responsible for the most part to take care of it, but most of the maintence like watering is the farmers responsibility. How cool!

I wonder if we were to do a blind taste test and see what vegetables or fruits or even animals as they wrote, which ones would taste better? One from dirt or one from water? Sounds kinda silly on paper really, especially when you add all the benefits for the environment it creates.
